The role: An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Team Lead responsible for leading the Engineering Support Team (EST) Delivery team. Delivering a stable Plan performance to support the airline operations. As Technical Team Lead, you are accountable for the safe and efficient operation of your EST team, ensuring compliance is maintained and processes and procedures are followed.
What you’ll do:
- Make 'on the day' operational decisions for blocking issues resulting from ongoing checks.
- Drive optimum plan achievement, technical decision making and Team operational performance and alignment.
- Evaluate manufacturers technical documentation and industry data, implementing requirements, recommendations and developing industry best practices.
- Identify and build collaborative relationships with key collaborators within engineering and across British Airways to ensure focus on providing customer satisfaction and plan delivery.
- Communicate with a wide range of departments/colleagues as required.
- Arrange/co-ordinate/attend/manage meetings as appropriate to fulfil the responsibilities of the Shift Team lead position to maintain an effective interface, communication, and co-ordination, between both the internal departments and the British Airways customer as appropriate.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage performance for the overall engineering business.
- Management and leadership of professional and specialist staff in a regulated environment.
- Excellent influencing skills and ability to both influence and drive effective outcomes and decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex technical information into a clear and simple message in addition to aid in collaborative working with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand operational implications of technical and operational decisions.
Your experience:
- An appropriate qualification or equivalent in an approved Engineering subject or operational management, or a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (essential).
- General knowledge of Scheduled Maintenance planning principles (essential).
- Working knowledge of engineering processes and procedures (essential).
- Working knowledge of 'Part M' and 'EASA 145' requirements (essential).
- Knowledge of IT systems including SAP (desirable).
