The role:

Join our innovative IT Operations team at British Airways as a Network Engineer, where you\’ll play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the robust infrastructure that keeps our global airline connected. What you’ll do:

  • Design and implement resilient network solutions that support British Airways’ business needs.

  • Collaborate with project delivery teams to support network development across global sites.

  • Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Monitor network performance and proactively troubleshoot to ensure optimal service delivery.

  • Maintain security compliance by working closely with IT, Cyber Security, and service partners.

  • Deliver network maintenance, upgrades, and documentation with accuracy and clarity.

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to users and junior colleagues, contributing to a learning-focused culture.

  • Analyse network usage, forecast future capacity, and optimise bandwidth efficiency.

  • Engage in cross-team collaboration with developers, system administrators, and security professionals.

  • Contribute to incident resolution and business continuity through international travel as required.

  • Demonstrated experience in a Network Engineer or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF, and hardware such as Cisco and Juniper.

  • Proficiency with SDWAN (e.g., Meraki), network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios), and ServiceNow.

  • Experience with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) and network security best practices.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with third-party suppliers.

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP or the equivalent.
