The role: Maintenance Assist
Join the Aircraft Services Workshop team, where you will assist in maintaining BA’s diverse fleet of A320, B777, B787, A350 and A380 aircraft as well as support external customers and suppliers. Your focus will involve general assistance to workshop colleagues, ensuring safety, airworthiness and customer standards are achieved in a quality and cost‑effective manner. With a mixed fleet of 270 aircraft, including A350s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners, your role will involve supporting all maintenance activities.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain a safe working environment through adherence to quality, health and safety and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate company procedures, policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Drive and operate all vehicles appropriate to the area, including mechanical handling, lifting equipment and elevated work platforms to the limits of permits held.
- Load and unload aircraft components from delivery vehicles using forklift, and deliver/collect components to/from workshop work areas.
- Transport, position and deliver components, materials and equipment to support maintenance.
- Replenish oxygen carts in the Terminal and Maintenance Base area used for servicing aircraft oxygen systems.
- Perform and assist with maintenance tasks as directed, including cleaning and adverse weather duties.
- Replenish vehicles, storage facilities and equipment as necessary.
- Support the workshop with housekeeping duties to keep the production area clean and tidy.
- Support the development of a high‑performance team and culture, in line with the company Hallmarks.
- Support the delivery of departmental and directorate objectives.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Self‑motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

- IT literacy.

- Knowledge of the airport and/or maintenance environment (desirable).
- Valid full UK driving licence (or equivalent).
