The role: Technical Engineer – Cabin Design
Provide specialist engineering technical support services to deliver cabin interior change to meet customer expectations. Ensure our aircraft are operated and maintained to the highest safety standards, in compliance with all regulatory requirements with industry leading reliability and competitive operating costs.
What you’ll do:
- Create technical specifications defining work scope of designs for new/modified cabin interior products.
- Create comprehensive financial quotations/business cases in accordance with corporate finance standing instructions to gain spend approval for costs associated with cabin interior projects and technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership in your field of expertise to ensure safety, compliance and technical standards are maintained and the best technical solutions delivered.
- Provide on-site specialist technical support as required in the production areas to deliver effective and fast resolution to technical issues.
- Prepare and approve technical data and work instructions to ensure our cabin products are installed, maintained, repaired, modified and overhauled to the required standards.
- Investigate safety reports, repetitive defects and fleet reliability data and take effective action to prevent recurrence and improve operational performance.
- Evaluate manufacturer maintenance data (e.g. SB’s), airworthiness directives and any other industry recommendations and regulatory requirements and implement the appropriate recommendations and industry best practices applicable to BA.
- Develop & implement technical process improvement & cost reduction initiatives to improve competitive performance.
- Management and development of the aircraft, cabin and component maintenance programmes to achieve industry leading technical performance.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Ability to hold CAA approvals or BA company approvals (Essential)
- HNC / HND or equivalent in an Aerospace Engineering subject (Essential)
- Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience (Essential)
- Degree in an Engineering subject (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of the safety & quality management system (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of regulations including CAA Part M, Part 145, CS.25 and Part 21. (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of company processes and procedures applicable to the work environment and people (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of at least one aircraft, or cabin product type design, mechanical & avionic systems, structures and materials. (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of maintenance programmes, technical reliability & condition monitoring tools & processes. (Desirable)
