The role: Engineering Safety Business Partner. As this is a frontline operational role, there will be a requirement to provide occasional support during evenings and night shifts to ensure visible safety presence and engagement across all areas of the operation. Support the delivery of a consistent & proactive safety culture across all operational areas. You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry, supporting our ambition to become the safest and most reliable airline maintenance organisation in the world. As a Safety Business Partner, you’ll play a visible and active role in supporting our Engineering teams to embed safe behaviours, strengthen operational safety and deliver key safety improvement initiatives across our operation.
What You’ll Do: You’ll work closely with frontline leaders and operational teams to reinforce safety expectations, support the delivery of the company’s safety and environmental initiatives, and help ensure safety is consistently applied in day-to-day operations. The role is highly operational, with a strong focus on coaching, engagement, collaboration and proactive problem solving within the workplace. Working alongside our Health & Safety Advisors and Senior Advisors, you’ll support activities such as safety walks, workplace inspections, investigations, action tracking and operational safety improvement activities. You’ll also help identify emerging trends, support local implementation of safety initiatives and promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the Engineering directorate.
What You’ll Bring To British Airways: We are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who are self-motivated, organised and passionate about improving safety through frontline engagement and partnership working. Whilst experience in engineering or aviation is desirable, we are particularly interested in people who can build trusted relationships, influence through coaching and support operational teams in delivering meaningful safety improvement.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification (Desirable)
- ISEP or equivalent foundational qualification (Desirable)
- Working knowledge of relevant health, safety, environmental requirement, ideally in an airport or heavily regulated environment (Essential)
- Hold or ability to hold an Airside pass and Airside driving licence (Essential)
- Engineering based degree (Desirable)
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, ISEP) (Desirable)
