Join our dynamic Corporate Affairs team at British Airways as a Corporate Communications Lead, where you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications that champion our corporate narrative. This role is pivotal in promoting our strategy, including financial reporting and CEO/C-suite media engagement, ensuring our brand reputation is strengthened across the media landscape.

What You'll Do:

  • Create, develop, and deliver a comprehensive plan of corporate communications activity that promotes British Airways' strategy, objectives, and corporate narrative, always seeking innovative ways to present information.
  • Deliver all core corporate communications content, including financial reporting, annual reports, and sustainability communications, translating complex data and issues into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Proactively identify and deliver high-value media opportunities, including coverage, interviews, and thought leadership, which amplifies the voice of our leadership and aligns with business objectives.
  • Partner closely with our CEO and C-suite to develop media engagement strategies, create compelling speeches, briefs, and presentation content for both UK-based and global events, and initiate external profile opportunities.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key journalists and industry correspondents, ensuring our voice is well represented in the media and supporting the smooth running of the press office and Media Centre, especially during times of disruption or crisis.
  • Amply all communications work via other stakeholders in Corporate Affairs, including Public Affairs, Communications Business Partners, and Social Media teams.
  • Monitor competitor and industry activity, sharing insights and ensuring strategic communications are amplified across wider Corporate Affairs channels.
  • Participate in crisis preparedness and on-call activities to support reputational resilience and contribute to the wider team as needed.

Hybrid Working Model & Weekend Cover Requirements:

This role is based on a low hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of four days a week in the Waterside (WTS) HQ office based adjacent to Heathrow's terminal 5. To ensure robust media coverage and operational support, you will also participate in a shared team rota for phone cover across some weekends. This expectation is designed to maintain our high standards of responsiveness and reputational resilience; with weekend duties distributed fairly among team members.

What You'll Bring To British Airways:

  • A collaborative and proactive approach, demonstrating strong initiative, curiosity, and sound judgement in all that you do.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A positive and flexible mindset, combined with resilience under pressure, creativity, and a passion for storytelling.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Your Experience:

  • Significant and relevant experience in professional corporate communications, with a focus on media engagement and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrable ability to craft and execute high-quality, strategic communication plans and content aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership profiles, particularly in complex or sensitive communication scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of the news and political landscape, with an instinct for storytelling and media opportunity.
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communications and acting on results to improve output.
