The role: Learning Design Lead. We’re on a mission to create memorable, impactful learning experiences for every colleague across our organisation. As a Learning Design Lead at British Airways, you’ll play a crucial role in this, leading the design and implementation of new or significantly refreshed learning programmes. Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll ensure our learning products are of outstanding quality, consistently reflect the BA brand, and comply with service, regulatory and mandatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the business and use your creativity and problem‑solving skills to support our strategic goals.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of new or significantly changed learning programmes, ensuring clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Conduct and finalise comprehensive Learning Discovery (Needs Analysis), building on work initiated by Learning Business Managers.
- Develop recommendations for learning solutions that align with business priorities and support BA’s strategic direction.
- Project manage the design, development, and implementation of learning solutions using established processes and templates.
- Collaborate with training delivery teams to interpret learning outcomes and make informed design decisions.
- Coordinate and manage contributions from subject matter experts (SMEs) and third‑party suppliers, ensuring timely and high‑quality content development.
- Lead cross‑functional project teams through the end‑to‑end design and development process.
- Partner with Quality & Compliance teams to ensure all learning meets internal policies, external regulations and industry standards.
- Work closely with Learning Content Leads to ensure adherence to design processes and quality criteria.
- Oversee the seamless rollout of new programmes, including facilitating ‘train the trainer’ sessions and ensuring smooth handover to Learning Content Leads for ongoing management.
- Act as a role‑model for learning best practices, leveraging internal insights and external trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Your Experience
- End‑to‑end learning and development experience, with a strong background in blended learning design, development, and innovation (essential).
- Experience in innovative digital learning solutions (eLearning, virtual classrooms, micro and macro learning) (desirable).
- Proven track record in training design/content management.
- Experience in supplier management and delivery of projects (desirable).
