The role

Flight Simulator Engineer

British Airways operate a fleet of full-flight and fixed-base simulators used for recurrent and conversion pilot training, the devices are maintained by the Simulator and SEP engineering department.

Within the Flight Operations directorate, there is an opportunity to join the engineering team as a Flight Simulator Engineer. The role is based at London Heathrow maintenance base Technical Block A (TBA).

What you’ll do

  • The job holder will provide technical and operational support for BA’s fleet of full flight/fixed-base simulators and classroom training equipment on a 24/7 shift basis, delivering high levels of operational serviceability to support the training requirements of BA and external customers.
  • The role is essential in maintaining our simulator fleet in compliance with UK-CAA and EASA regulatory requirements and contributing to the future technical and operational capabilities of our simulator fleet.
  • The job holder will be assigned to a shift that carries out preventative maintenance tasks, integrates simulator hardware and basic software modifications to improve fidelity, and remove obsolescence. Rectify deferred defects, manage QTG\’s and provide engineering support for simulator operators.
  • Adheres to the Quality System requirements detailed in UK-CAA document CS-FSTD(A).
  • Delivers serviceable simulators with over 99.5% availability to the BAFT customer base with improving training hours per fault and timely defect clearance in accordance with the BAFT Quality System.
  • Deputies for the Simulator Engineering Duty Team Leader when required and ensures a safe working environment compliant with Health & Safety legislation.

This is a shift role that covers both day and night working. (4 on 4 off pattern)
