The role: Safety and Compliance Engineer. Join British Airways Engineering Quality and you’ll work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. Responsible for implementing the company quality and safety system through proactive engagement. You’ll monitor standards of health, safety, airworthiness and airmanship. Driven to maintain full compliance, you’ll conduct internal and external audits and investigations, publish reports, validate improvement actions, and drive the closure of non-conformities.

This is a role that will call upon your impressive leadership, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills. You’ll bring to the role impressive credentials including investigation experience, regulatory audit experience and proven experience in an aircraft maintenance environment within a Maintenance Repair Organisation.

What you’ll do:

  • There is an expectation that you will undertake adhoc work on an exceptional basis or provide relevant cover for other team tasks.
  • Ensure health, safety and airworthiness compliance and drive improvement in safety culture.
  • Define and approve compliant expositions and procedures to meet the business needs.
  • Auditing to the approved plan and driving to achieve closure of non-conformities in a timely manner.
  • Conducting investigations, identify root cause and make recommendations to required standard in a timely manner to prevent reoccurrence of incidents and accidents.
  • Actively monitor and analyse data to identify risk and work in partnership with the business to reduce it.
  • May lead a small team to meet the objectives of the Quality department.
  • Define and present solutions at Engineering leadership level.
  • Lead or support projects to meet the business need.
  • Identify and deliver efficiency improvements.
  • Coach team members as applicable to develop capability, competence and efficiency.
  • Support team manager to ensure team objectives and goals are achieved.
  • Conduct assessments of aircraft, people and workplaces to the required standards.

What you’ll bring to British Airways: You will bring your expertise in Quality Assurance, Environmental Quality Standards and Health & Safety, a strong business acumen, and be willing to gain a detailed understanding of BA’s processes, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Your experience: Your qualifications will include an Engineering Apprenticeship and HNC/D, plus an EASA Part 66 Cat B license or equivalent qualification. Experience in warehousing and logistics and associated regulations is desirable. You will also need to hold a full UK EC/EEA manual driving licence. Experience as a Quality Assurance and Compliance Engineer is preferred with a detailed knowledge of Part M, Part 145 and Part 21. Lead auditor, NEBOSH and Form 4 holders are also desirable.
