The role: Maintenance programme and configuration Engineer. We are looking for proactive individuals to join the Maintenance Programmes and Configuration team within British Airways Engineering’s Technical department. You will be responsible for reviewing aircraft maintenance and component configuration requirements, ensuring these are correctly translated into our IT system. Working with internal, external and regulatory stakeholders you will be a principal participant in ensuring that the maintenance of our aircraft remains compliant with applicable regulations. As well as the day‑to‑day responsibilities, we would expect you to support or own project work as required. These projects will be varied, including new aircraft entry into service, aircraft retirements, or data manipulation including industry standard formats. You will have good communication skills and the ability to cope under pressure, prioritising tasks as required. Strong data analysis & auditing skills, problem solving and computer literacy are a must. Aircraft engineering experience / knowledge and an understanding of aviation regulatory processes would be desirable, but we welcome applicants from similar safety-focused industries.
What you’ll do:
- Technical development, set up, maintenance and regulatory compliance of the Aircraft Maintenance Programs and all aspects of Continuing Airworthiness requirements controls to improve safety, reliability, and cost performance for BA’s fleet of aircraft including the set up and control of AMI’s, Maintenance plans, master parts list and actual aircraft configuration.
- Assess all relevant Regulatory Authority requirements and Directives and implement appropriate action to ensure continued compliance with Airworthiness Requirements.
- Review manufacturers communications to assess operational impact on safety, reliability, and commercial implications.
- Assess, check, and approve technical changes to the Approved Maintenance Programme, to improve safety, reliability and to reduce maintenance and operation costs.
- Represent, when required, the company on a technical basis at industry working groups/meetings.
- Maintaining safety and airworthiness compliance through accurate data set up and management of AMP requirements in EWS for Aircraft and components.
- Managing the Aircraft configuration for the fit of rotables using the Master parts list (MPL).
- The set up of new Aircraft controls and configurations.

- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
- HNC/D in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Willingness to gain appropriate company or external qualifications as required.
