A career without limits. As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain. It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make. We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role: Employee Cost & RTR Analyst. Join our Finance and Transformation team and play a key role in keeping the financial engine of British Airways running smoothly. This is the team behind the numbers that matter — from payroll and pensions to incentives and reporting — ensuring accuracy, compliance and insight that the business relies on every single day. Without this team, we simply couldn’t make informed decisions or support our people properly. Sound important? It is!

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of payroll accounting — making sure every entry is accurate, complete and reflected correctly in our finance systems.
  • Partner closely with Colleague Services to ensure changes to payroll processes (including Project Elysium) are captured and understood.
  • Review and sign off balance sheet reconciliations for payroll and employee costs.
  • Reconcile payroll systems to the general ledger — covering pay, tax, pensions and NI.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to tax authorities and pension schemes (no missed deadlines here!).
  • Oversee payroll finance activity delivered by IAG GBS and ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Support pay data analysis and provide insights to help with negotiations, including union discussions.
  • Lead on IAS 19 pension accounting, working with internal experts and external advisers.
  • Support leadership with pension-related commercial insights and briefing materials.
  • Act as the go-to for IFRS 2 matters — understanding, explaining and accounting for costs clearly.
  • Manage incentive provisions, tracking performance and ensuring balances are always accurate.
  • Get involved in ad hoc work and step in where needed — because teamwork matters here.

What you’ll bring to British Airways: You’re someone who enjoys digging into the detail… but can also step back and see the bigger picture. Curious? Analytical? Always asking 'does this make sense?' — we like that. You’ll bring strong judgement, a collaborative mindset and the confidence to explain complex financial topics in a way others understand. Comfortable working with different teams? Able to challenge constructively? Great — you’ll fit right in.

We’re also looking for someone who takes ownership, builds strong relationships and isn’t afraid to improve how things work. If you like solving problems, spotting risks early and making things better — you’ll enjoy this role.

Your experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience in a complex organisation, Big 4, or technical accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 19 and IFRS 2.
  • Experience working with or alongside payroll processes (preferred).
  • Ability to analyse data, model financial impacts and explain findings clearly.

What we offer: We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary. From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress. We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.

Inclusion & Diversity: At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work. Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
