The role: Compliance Audit Manager

An exciting opportunity to join British Airways Regulated Safety Team as a Compliance Audit Manager has arisen!

In this role you will be accountable for our compliance to CAA Operational Safety and Security Regulations, IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices as well as internal processes and procedures.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the independent Operations Compliance Monitoring programme that contributes to a safe and secure operation and the continued validity of the BA Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC)

An integral part of this role is undertaking a significant amount of overseas travel.

What you’ll do:

  • Systematic audits of the British Airways Management System, head office functions, IOSA standards and recommended procedures and Operations; typically ground and cabin.
  • Providing timely audit reports using Audit systems to monitor progress with and approve corrective action plans derived as a result of audit non-compliances.
  • Monitoring compliance within industry and internal safety and security standards including, but not limited to, UK Law 965-2012, IOSA, BA Operations Manual, Health and Safety Regulations and the BA Aviation Security Programme.
  • To act as Lead Auditor when required, managing the audit team to ensure the most effective use of resources. Support BA to secure continued IOSA accreditation, regulatory compliance and other relevant company approvals/certifications.

Drive the application and continuous development of BA safety behaviours and safety culture. To identify and ensure immediate action is taken, where necessary, to protect BA interests from safety and/or security related risk, sometimes without the time or opportunity to seek active support from safety & security Senior Management

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Excellent working knowledge of UK, EU and US safety and security regulations and understanding of the principles of occupational and aviation safety management.
  • Understanding of Compliance Monitoring principles
  • Knowledge of operational procedures and processes including the ability to understand the British Airways Operations Manual aviation security programme.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Directorates in a regulated environment.

Your experience:

  • Experience in compliance monitoring is crucial.
  • A strong understanding of CAA and international aviation regulations.
  • A recognised auditor qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working across BA departments and external organisations/regulators
  • Participation in the corporate response to accidents and serious incidents.
