It's something we've been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world's first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. This originality has been in our blood since day one. It's the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues. So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make. We know great things can happen when you're inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit!

The role: A key leadership role at the core of Global Operations, responsible for the strategic direction, regulatory oversight, and day to day performance of Flight Dispatch and navigation services. As Senior Manager Flight Dispatch, you will ensure our global operation runs safely, compliantly, and efficiently across a 24/7 network. You will lead a team of Duty Managers and Flight Dispatch professionals, setting clear standards, strengthening governance, and driving improvements that enhance operational resilience and support digital transformation. Working closely with Global Operations, Flight Operations, the IOC, and senior industry partners, you will influence policy, advance ATC mitigation strategies, and shape the tools and processes that underpin critical operational decisions. This role blends long term strategic responsibility with real time operational leadership. You will safeguard regulatory compliance, maintain robust training and licensing frameworks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. • As the designated owner of Flight Dispatch technical and regulatory standards on behalf of Flight Operations, ensure appropriate governance and assurance by proactively monitoring compliance, ensuring timely investigation of reported non-compliance, ensuring corrective action taken when needed.
  • Ensure licensing, training, and recency requirements for all Flight Dispatch personnel are completed and maintained to the required standard. Design and oversee the training delivery plan, including material development, version control, and technical verification assessments of Duty Managers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders to influence future developments; provide expert guidance and specialised knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and implement BA internal and industry strategic initiatives in Air Traffic Control mitigation and operational resilience through innovation e.g. BA Flight Watch; IIQP.
  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers of IT tools and data supply ensuring standards and compliance, performance reviews, and adherence to BA documented procedures.
  • Develop, exercise, and maintain appropriate Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for Flight Dispatch operations.

What you'll bring to British Airways:

  • Strong leadership capability with proven experience guiding high performing operational teams.
  • Ability to shape strategic direction while maintaining rigorous safety, governance, and training standards.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, engaging confidently with senior stakeholders across BA, IAG, and industry bodies.

  • Resilience, sound judgement, and agility in fast moving, high pressure operational environments.
  • High proficiency in operational systems, data driven decision making, and technology enabled improvements.
  • A forward-thinking approach, identifying innovative solutions and promoting ongoing operational excellence.

Your experience:

  • Strong understanding of operational requirements and their alignment with organisational and safety objectives.
  • Proven background in project or change management, with the ability to deliver sustainable operational improvements.
