Maintenance Assistant

The Aircraft Services Workshop team provides a wide range of maintenance support for BA's fleet of A320s, B777s, B787s, A350s and A380s, plus we support external customers and work with suppliers and we require a Maintenance Assistant to join our team, who will deliver support to our internal and external customers and suppliers.

Your focus will be to provide general assistance to all Workshop colleagues ensuring that safety, airworthiness, and customer standards are delivered in a quality and cost-effective manner. The role has responsibility for forklift loading/unloading aircraft components from delivery vehicles, delivering and collecting components to/from workshops work areas, replenishing oxygen carts in the terminal and maintenance base area (used for servicing aircraft oxygen systems), and supporting the workshop with housekeeping duties to ensure the production area is kept in a clean and tidy condition. This is on a 4 on 4 off 12hr day shift pattern.

What you’ll do:

• Maintain a safe working environment through adherence to quality, health and safety and housekeeping standards
• Ensure compliance with all appropriate company procedures, policies, legal and regulatory requirements
• Drive and operate all vehicles appropriate to area, including mechanical handling, lifting equipment and elevated work platforms to the limit of permits held
• Transport, position and deliver components, materials and equipment to support maintenance
• Perform and assist with maintenance tasks as directed, including cleaning and adverse weather duties
• Replenish vehicles, storage facilities and equipment as necessary
• Support the development of a high‑performance team and culture, in line with the company Hallmarks
• Support the delivery of departmental and directorate objectives

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

• Self‑motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Prioritisation, planning and organisation
• Problem solving and acting on own initiative
• Capable of carrying out manual handling tasks
• Working to deadlines and standards
• IT literacy
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to comprehend procedures, technical documentation and demonstrate knowledge of airmanship and safety management systems
• Knowledge of the airport and/or maintenance environment (desirable)
• Valid full UK driving licence (or equivalent)
