The role provides technical leadership and technical supervision in support of the team leader in managing the safety, airworthiness, reliability, technical performance and cost of ownership of the BA fleet.
What you’ll do:
- Compile & approve technical documents & instructions.
- Drive optimal technical decisions in the wider team.
- Lead technical discussions across departments using expertise considering the effects on the wider business.
- Set technical standards, policy and strategic direction, scoping the impact and influencing future legislation.
- Act as a consultant on technical & airworthiness matters internally with external suppliers, customers & regulators.
- Deliver a portfolio of projects & programmes of high commercial value to the business.
- Coach and mentor team members in contributing to the business plan, train, develop and authorise Technical Engineers.
- Support the Team Leader in developing a high performance team culture with behaviours in line with the company hallmarks.
- Maintain oversight of fleet reliability, monitor fleet technical performance and develop improvement plans to ensure performance targets are achieved.
- Lead or technically support formal investigations in line with the corporate safety management manual.
- Prioritise workload and take action as appropriate to maintain compliance with all appropriate company procedures, policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Report, present and communicate operational and business performance and significant events to senior stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide out of hours support as required with your contact details on the Maintrol register.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Must hold or be able to gain EASA/CAA Part-21, Part-M and Part-145 authorisations as required. (Essential)
- HNC/HND/degree level or equivalent in an approved Engineering subject. (Essential)
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience. (Essential)
- Holding other technical authorisation/licence/workshop approvals as required. (Desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of EASA regulations, including Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-21 and Part-145 (Essential)
- Detailed knowledge of safety and quality management systems (Essential)
- Strong commercial acumen. (Essential)
- Report and business plan writing. (Desirable)
- Advanced technical knowledge and understanding of design philosophy for particular aircraft, engine and/or components. (Essential)
