The role: Network Planning Lead
Salary: £55,000-£63,000
To drive the development of the BA Euroflyer route network in order to optimise attractiveness to the customer, cost efficiency and profitability.
What you'll do:
- Owns the development of commercial network plans that drive a profitable BA Euroflyer route network, which matches market demand and commercial need, and which grows in line with the company strategy.
- Reviews performance on route and network structure, making changes as appropriate, and anticipating/reacting to changes in market demand, competition, customers and the operational environment.
- Develops, utilises and continuously improves robust evaluation methodologies to develop business cases for network development, including future capacity growth and new routes as well as the reduction and cancellation of existing underperforming routes.
- Develops strategic plans for each route within the BA Euroflyer network and aligns the seasonal planning process with the strategic direction.
- Works with senior route development personnel across airports and tourist boards, finding new opportunities to develop the route network and negotiating commercial deals that stimulate demand and support profitability.
- Leads cross‐functional, analytical network strategy projects, challenging the status quo and gaining buy‐in from key stakeholders along the way.
- Represents BA Euroflyer within other areas of BA and IAG as needed with respect to Network Planning issues, helping to further BA Euroflyer interests and visibility.
- Builds effective relationships to work collaboratively with colleagues across the airline and other IAG entities to develop network solutions that optimise commercial aspirations, efficiently utilise crew and aircraft resource and meet operational needs.
What you'll bring to British Airways:
- Strong analytical ability – able to combine analysis and commercial understanding to draw sound conclusions and develop clear actions in a timely manner.
- Ability to manage ambiguity balancing the often‐conflicting demands of commercial and operational requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively to different audiences.
- Proven influencing skills – able to succinctly and clearly state problems and solutions to a wide and varied audience.
- Excellent team player capable of working with commercial, planning and delivery teams at all levels around the airline.
- Flexible to travel as required and work from different Company bases.
Your experience:
- Network development and/or commercial background/knowledge.
- Good understanding of the aviation business, airline economics and the commercial, operational and financial drivers of airline profitability.
- Proficient in financial analysis, interpreting route results and concepts including cost allocation methodologies.
- Good understanding of key competitor networks and schedules.
- Understanding of airline revenue management and pricing, and customer purchase behaviour.
- Proven experience in making decisions based on commercial inputs.
