Aeromedical Examiner (AME) Location: Heathrow (Waterside Health Centre) Contract: Part-time 20%-40% (approximately 1-2 days per week, flexible)

About the role: Safety starts here. British Airways Health Services plays a critical role in keeping our flying community fit to fly, ensuring the highest standards of medical safety for our pilots and cabin crew. Based at our purpose-built Waterside Health Centre at Heathrow, the team delivers aviation medical services that directly support safe, compliant, and reliable flight operations across the airline.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake UK CAA Class 1 pilot/Class 2 Cabin Crew medical examinations in line with regulatory requirement
  • Complete associated aeromedical casework and assessments
  • Conduct initial cabin crew medical examinations
  • Work collaboratively within the AME group practice and wider British Airways Health Services team
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical records in line with clinical governance standards
  • Provide trusted medical input that supports the safety and wellbeing of our aviation community

You’ll communicate clearly and professionally, building rapport and trust with aircrew and colleagues, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality. A collaborative and detail‑oriented approach, commitment to clinical governance, and the flexibility and reliability needed to succeed in a sessional role will be key to making an impact.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC registration with a current UK licence to practise
  • Broad post‑registration clinical experience
  • UK CAA authorisation as an Aeromedical Examiner (Class 1 preferred/Class 2 considered)
  • Recognised training in aviation medicine
  • Occupational health experience is desirable but not essential
