Job Purpose
We are seeking a Sr UX Designer to join our product design team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating intuitive, user‑centred experiences for BritBox streaming apps across web, mobile, and connected TV devices. This role reports into the VP, UX Design, and will work alongside a Sr Product Designer and a UX Researcher already on the team. The team works across the entire customer journey, from acquisition funnel touchpoints to the core content discovery and viewing experiences. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers on the wider prodtech team, and be an active participant in cross‑functional workgroups with members from editorial and marketing teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with your design team colleagues to synthesise learnings from user research, customer feedback, A/B tests and analytics to create a shared understanding of our customers, their needs, and how well we serve them today.
- Document user journeys and design solutions at various levels of fidelity as needed throughout the design process. This could be user journey maps, storyboards, content outlines, priority guides, wireframes, or prototypes, depending on what the situation calls for.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with stakeholders from product, marketing, editorial, and engineering to align on goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with product and delivery managers to define, write, and validate user stories and acceptance criteria that ensure user goals are met.
- Help establish and monitor UX and behavioural metrics to measure the impact of design decisions, guide future iterations, and communicate outcomes to the wider organisation.
- Promote a culture of user‑centred thinking by sharing insights and reporting on UX performance metrics across teams and leadership.
Knowledge and Experience Required Qualifications
- You should be able to present case studies demonstrating relevant prior experience from similar roles.
- We’re looking for a strong design process, problem‑solving skills, and user‑centred thinking.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills — we’d love it if you’re a good writer.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Tools & Technologies
- We use Figma for our design documentation, so experience using that is a plus, but we’re not dogmatic about the tools you use to do the job, and we’d love it if you have experience using a wide range of tools.
- Solid understanding of development constraints and possibilities, such as familiarity with HTML, CSS basics (helpful but not required).
Education & Personal Attributes
- A bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or a related field is desired but not essential.
- We’d love it if you have prior experience in designing for streaming platforms.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices is a plus.
- Passionate about British TV and streaming (SVOD).
- Excellent communicator; able to present insights clearly, concisely, and in actionable formats for varied audiences.
