The predicted salary is between 60000 - 75000 £ per year.
This role is responsible for the supply of finished tape programming to BritBox/BBC Select across its North America market. This includes both library and premiere content sourced from both BritBox’s parent company and a range of 3rd party distributors. The position is a Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave; during which the incumbent will ensure BritBox/BBC Select has the strongest possible slate of programming to drive customer acquisition, engagement and retention. They will source & track projects, evaluate & recommend targets and negotiate & close deals.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Scheduling and Programming team to set and execute the content buying strategy
- Source and negotiate content from distributors for current and future services
- Ensure that all deals are within approved budget, return optimal value for money, comply with internal processes and cover the rights required
- Identify key performance analytics to develop consistent reporting tools
- Track and analyze KPIs/comp pricing for projected ROI to enhance buying strategy
- Develop a standardized, internal workflow to manage efficiencies across acquisitions dept
- Coordinate budget reviews on short-term cycles to ensure regional spend is optimized
- Evaluate new/potential subscriber insights and trend analyses to iterate deals
- Collaborate closely with Legal to ensure contracts close at a reasonable speed and materials proceed promptly/accurately for all relevant parties
- Screen available content to ensure acquisitions are appropriate and well-suited for the service
- Work with the executive leadership to evaluate opportunities for upstream production
- Forge new relationships and build on existing partnerships with content producers/distributors
- Be the best buyer in the business through work ethic, attitude, aptitude and dependability
- Attend screenings, industry markets and events as recommended
- Run ad-hoc projects and reports as needed

- Negotiation experience with a strong working knowledge of streaming industry rights/terms and demonstrable skills with television deal‑making across global distributors
- Creative problem‑solving skills with a flair for finding solutions that drive negotiations forward
- Confidence to strategically assess opportunities through sophisticated analysis and data‑driven decision‑making
- Extensive understanding of programming budgets and good financial business sense
- Command of competitor landscape and skills to share topline information to larger groups
- Fluency with AirTable is essential
- Strong relationships in the market; direct experience in the UK‑based industry is ideal
- Experience in developing projects at their earliest stages is a plus
- Experience managing a direct report is a plus
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours to accommodate international colleagues
- Curiosity about emerging technologies is beneficial
