Job Purpose
Reporting to and working closely with the Group Financial Controller, the Finance Business Partner (Nordics) will be responsible for providing professional financial support and advice to a range of stakeholders within BritBox International, and the wider BBC Studios reporting environment. This role will perform the management accounting & reporting, forecasting, and partnering support to the Nordics business, working with marketing, operations and other finance colleagues. This is a varied role with a broad scope – you will be working as part of an international finance team within a growing business – and provides the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Reporting: Month-end close and review process for Nordics business: Reconcile external reports and post subscription revenue; review contract revenue posted by outsourced service provider. Post cost accruals based on partnering work with business functions and work with finance colleagues to accrue intercompany pass-through costs. Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), including variance analysis and commentary on actuals versus budget/forecast and FX fluctuations, for the Head of Nordics and Group Financial Controller. These reports support group reporting to BBC Studios and provide insights to BritBox leadership. Present summary of financial performance to Nordics team as part of trading meeting. Balance sheet management – work with outsourced service provider to prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Nordics-related balances and implement actions to resolve issues and clear outstanding balances. Overseas VAT – pull together data required for monthly and quarterly overseas VAT returns, review the preparation of returns by third party. Input into year-end processes and statutory reporting, including external audit.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Partnering: Partner with internal stakeholders to provide reporting and forecasting support for Nordics business, including Marketing & PR, Tech & ops, and Head of Nordics, working with non-financial colleagues to support and enable effective financial and managerial control over expenditure. Keep Nordics rolling forecast up to date with latest financial and subscriber actuals data and changing assumptions for future subscriber trends and expenditure. Perform analysis across the P&L and subscriber data to provide insight and recommendations for commercial decision-making and scenario planning, e.g. evaluating promotional marketing campaigns and discounting offers (pre and post campaign), new platform deals, business development, FX impact reviews etc. Responsible for the budget/forecast/LRP process for the Nordics business – preparation of budget and reforecasts in line with the BBC Studios timetable and internal BritBox review timelines, working with finance colleagues to enable accurate recharges across the group. Work with Group Financial Controller and Content Finance Business Partner to develop balance sheet and cashflow forecasting, feeding into the annual forecasting cycle and 13-week cashflow forecasting process.
Knowledge and Experience
- Qualified or late stage part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent); or qualified by significant relevant accounting experience.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, particularly accrued and deferred income, and accrued costs.
- Experience working with financial information, including performing analysis and interpretation of variances.
- Experience of partnering with non-financial colleagues, providing insights and support to decision-making.
- Microsoft Office experience with excellent Excel skills essential (proficient in advanced functionality e.g. pivot tables, lookups, if/then, etc).
- Experience working with SAP (S4 HANA) and BPC reporting tool desirable but not essential.
- Media/subscription business experience also desirable but not essential.
