We're hiring a Network Technician to join our team in Bristol on a full-time basis, earning £31,872.00 per annum. Salary is dependent on experience, and a structured salary plan is in place. Full support and comprehensive training will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
In this role, your data and analytical skills will have a real impact in ensuring our customers have a reliable, safe water supply. As a Network Technician, you'll provide the data needed for reactive works for leakage, customer complaints, poor pressure and no water scenarios, as well as understanding flow and pressure within our mains and pipes.
What you'll be doing:
- Getting out and about recording and logging pressure and flow data across the network.
- Transferring data correctly to platforms used in the business.
- Ensuring the correct operation and maintenance of leakage, pressure and flow data collection systems.
- Investigating any faults and repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
- Day-to-day maintenance and operation of the Network data logging collection systems, ensuring that data is collected regularly and that faults are rectified swiftly to enable leakage checks to be made on certain areas of the network.
- Download and maintenance of the household night use consumption monitoring devices so that household consumption can be accurately monitored and used in annual leakage calculations.
- Set-up and maintain the correct operation of alarms packages associated with flow and pressure loggers and other relevant network sensors.
- Undertake the periodic manual download cycle of data loggers to support the leakage reporting and network maintenance activities and to monitor poor pressure areas, commercial meters and trunk main probe meters.
- Be confident in the installation and setup of insertion probe meters, working safely and methodically on large diameter pressurised mains.
- Assist with other processes such as pressure control, project research, district metering (including insertion probe installation), trade logging, leakage and consumption research.
- Installation, maintenance and data analytics of acoustic logging systems.
What we are looking for:
- Confident and experienced in a range of systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word and data logging systems.
- Ideally with experience in Netbase, GIS, sound recording loggers and similar software.
- Full UK driving licence to cover the areas within our supply using a company van.
- Confident with analysing information and attention to detail.
- GCSEs in Maths and English.
- Effective communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a small, immediate team, as well as independently.
- Experience in the operation of water supply networks would be advantageous but is not essential.
