We are currently recruiting a Paralegal to join our Legal Team based in Exeter. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
About the Role
As a Paralegal within Pennon Group’s Corporate Services Department, you will play a key role in supporting our Legal Advisers and Legal Manager across a wide range of legal matters. A significant part of your role will involve working alongside our Enforcement Team, helping to regulate compliance under the Water Industry Act 1991. You will support our water companies in tackling issues such as private leakage, illegal connections, and breaches of Water Fittings Regulations – ensuring compliance while protecting public health and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Legal Advisers on enforcement and compliance matters
- Draft correspondence and prepare legal documentation
- Assist with investigations into regulatory breaches (e.g. illegal connections, private leaks)
- Conduct legal research and support case preparation
- Prepare and communicate key legal and regulatory updates across the business
- Manage general legal enquiries and maintain internal legal systems
- Support post‑completion activities, including Stamp Duty and Land Registry processes
- Assist with transaction completion, including preparation and submission of documentation
About You
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with:
- Previous experience working in a Paralegal role
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English (Grade A–C)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to handle confidential information professionally
- A flexible, agile, and problem‑solving mindset
- An interest in regulatory and/or environmental law
