Purpose of the role:
To deliver a professional, visible, and reliable security presence at client sites. The Static Security Officer will act as an ambassador for Bristol Waste Security, ensuring the safety of people, property, and premises through proactive patrols, access control, reception duties, and adherence to all operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reception and Access Control:
- Greet and assist visitors and staff professionally and courteously.
- Manage visitor logs, ID checks, and ensure only authorised access in accordance with site procedures.
- Operate access control systems and issue passes as per protocol.
- Site Patrols:
- Conduct regular and irregular internal and external patrols.
- Report any unusual activity, safety concerns, or security breaches promptly.
- Complete required security checks, ensuring premises are secure and compliant.
- Act as first response to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies.
- Follow escalation protocols and communicate effectively with the control room or emergency services as needed.
- Complete incident reports clearly and accurately.
- Documentation:
- Maintain and update the Daily Occurrence Record (DOR) Book throughout each shift.
- Ensure all entries are professional, legible, and completed in line with site and company expectations.
- Client Relationship:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with on-site client contacts.
- Provide excellent customer service and be proactive in addressing client needs or concerns.
- Operational Compliance:
- Follow site-specific Assignment Instructions (AIs) and Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) at all times.
- Report faults, near misses, or health and safety issues through the appropriate channels.
- Wear and maintain correct uniform and PPE as specified.
Essential Requirements for the Role:
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High levels of awareness and vigilance at all times
- A calm, confident, and measured approach to challenging situations
- Ability to work independently and follow procedures consistently
- Strong written skills for report writing and documentation
- Fully comprehensive 5-year work and/ or education history (required to pass a background check)

To be a successful member of our security team, you will need to pass full Vero screening. This involves the requirement of various documents and checks. Please see below an indication of what is needed:
Documents:
- SIA Licence
- Proof of Address
- Passport and Driving Licence (If Applicable)
- Recent bank statement
You will require internet access and an email address to access the portal.
Once logged in:
- You will need to provide 5-10 years address history and employment history including contact details and dates of employment.
- You will need to declare any criminal record history you have and any previous names you’ve held.
- You will need to complete a fitness declaration and questionnaire
- A credit check is completed so you will need to declare any adverse credit and be aware that if you do have an issue, it will be flagged.
- A global sanctions check is also completed
- Annual leave package of 25 days plus 8 bank holidays.
