Key Responsibilities
- Driving a 3.5T van following route maps, carrying out daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.
- Leading a team of street cleansing operatives, to ensure cleansing of designated routes, in line with required standards and ensuring compliance with all aspects of health and safety.
- Supporting and/or covering the Supervisor in the deployment of operatives and vehicles at the start of the shift and debriefing at the end of shift to ensure the team are safe and the work completed.
- This will include timesheet completion and the reporting of defective vehicles, as well as allocating and monitoring all tasks, prioritising cleansing of individual streets where necessary and proactively identifying areas requiring attention.
What We’re Looking For
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in order to lead and motivate the team and liaise effectively with the public and colleagues.
- Able to follow route maps and to comply with driving and health and safety responsibilities.
- Able to independently and to use initiative for example, in prioritising streets to be cleansed.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of the vehicle and equipment to ensure its safe and proper use.
- A current driving licence valid for use in the UK.
