Location: Based at Avonmouth (covering both Avonmouth & Albert Road depots)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day (07:00-15:30) - Flexible to suit needs of the business.

The Role

To ensure the reliability, safety and performance of mechanical plant equipment across waste processing operations, through effective planned and reactive maintenance. The role supports operational continuity, minimises downtime, and contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to mechanical plant and equipment
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective root cause analysis to improve plant reliability
  • Maintain and repair key process equipment including conveyors, balers, shredders and separation systems
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with HSE standards, permit-to-work systems and safe isolation procedures
  • Accurately record maintenance activity, inspections and findings within maintenance systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Work collaboratively with operations, engineering colleagues and contractors to ensure effective service delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Competence in working with rotating equipment (bearings, alignment, couplings)
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work safely in a high-risk industrial environment
  • Confined space / working at height certifications (Training can be provided)
  • Good communication skills and willingness to attend training
  • Full UK driving licence
