Purpose of the role: If you are looking for a driving role with Monday to Friday family friendly daytime hours, on standard 8 hour shifts and local routes, then this would be a great opportunity for you. As a Class 2 Driver/Loader you will be driving the company vehicle safely, load, transport and unload waste and recycling materials according to the agreed customer requirements, Bristol Waste Company procedure and all external legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- To drive / operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and legal requirements.
- Responsible to ensure route completion and tasks are completed to Bristol Waste Company’s required standards.
- Tipping of vehicle at designated and approved refuse facility and to load and unload waste materials in accordance with Bristol Waste Company’s policy, procedures, training and legal requirements.
- To use mobile IT equipment and to complete daily paperwork as appropriate.
- Undertake any training / instruction required to carry out these duties.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment to a high standard, including daily vehicle checks.
- To deal with colleagues, customers and other non-Bristol Waste Company personnel in a polite, responsible and professional manner.
- To remain in contact with Supervisor and office staff and be responsive to operational needs.
- To work flexibly between locations, including Avonmouth, Albert Road Depot and Hartcliffe.
- To comply with all Bristol Waste Company reporting procedures.
Essential Requirements for the Role:
- Must hold a Class 2 licence, CPC and Digital Drivers Card.
- Experience or ability to undertake regular vehicle checks including oil, water and battery levels.
- Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving pushing/pulling waste bins and lifting recycling boxes up to 25kg.
- The ability to understand and complete daily defect sheets.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and to use own initiative.
- The ability to work well within a small team.
- The ability to use IT systems.
Please note: Successful candidates will be required to attend our 5 day Driver Induction programme, which includes mandatory paperwork, a collections induction, classroom-based learning, practical driver training, and driving assessments.
