Ilminster Avenue Nursery School is seeking to appoint a School Meals Supervisory Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone within the community to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for someone to supervise, guide and assist children during the midday break, ensuring their safety, general welfare and proper conduct during this period.
The successful candidate will:
- Have knowledge of basic hygiene procedures
- Understand school policies relating to behaviour and Health & Safety
- Have the ability to communicate and interact across a wide range of adults and children
- Be able to follow written or verbal instructions
- Have the ability to work empathically with children
- Be able and willing to work cooperatively as part of a team
- An awareness of child protection issues
- Flexible and dynamic approach
- Able to give extra class-based support at short notice either in mornings or afternoons
- First aid certificate
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the lunchtime supervision of children to ensure that the meal is completed on time in a safe and hygienic setting
- Report behaviour observations to a teacher in order to maintain the school’s standard of discipline and behaviour
- Work to council and school policies to maintain a safe environment for children and other staff
