An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional experienced in supporting individuals with a learning disability and/or Autism to join the Clinical Review team within BNSSG ICB. This post is a 12-month maternity leave cover and is 34 hrs per week over 5 days.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with system partners and care providers to deliver the NHS Care (Education) & Treatment Review policy and the Transforming Care Programme.
  • Help reduce the number of people with a learning disability and/or Autism in mental health inpatient settings and support initiatives that prevent avoidable admission.
  • Be IT literate and able to navigate remote platforms as some services are delivered using technology.
  • Be flexible to hybrid working while being available to meet in person at short notice, which may involve working from the office, BNSSG locality, or out of area to support service delivery.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a range of clinical and non-clinical professionals across multiple organisations.
  • Hold an all-age caseload, including individuals detained under the Mental Health Act and those in the community at increased risk of detention.
  • Use strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills to balance clinical need, identify risk and ensure effective care provision within available resources, liaising across the health and social care system to ensure a person-centred approach.
  • Support Multi-disciplinary discussions around individuals with heightened needs, ensuring system knowledge of the dynamic support register and CETR/CTR processes; work collaboratively to avoid admissions for individuals presenting with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with experience supporting individuals with learning disability and/or Autism.
  • IT literate and able to navigate remote platforms.
  • Understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (essential).

Our team is based in the heart of Bristol. The ICB supports hybrid working; however, flexibility and agility are required to deliver all aspects of the role. The post holder must be able to commit to being available to meet in person at short notice, in various locations including the office, BNSSG locality, or out of area.
