The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role at the heart of how BMS drives patient access across the UK. As the Regional and Local Market Access Strategy Manager, you'll be the engine behind a best-in-class access capability — translating national strategy into regional impact and equipping field teams with the tools, training, and insight they need to succeed. Reporting to the Lead of Regional and Local Market Access Strategy based at our Uxbridge headquarters, you'll bridge the gap between strategic intent and on-the-ground execution — ensuring consistency, scalability, and excellence across Integrated Care Systems and the broader NHS landscape across the UK and Ireland.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Market Access Excellence
    • Develop and maintain a scalable CoE framework for regional market access
    • Translate national strategies into clear, actionable guidance for field teams
    • Define best practices, standards, and ways of working that drive consistent regional execution
    • Ensure alignment between brand strategy, value proposition, and regional implementation
  • Build Capability Across the Organisation
    • Design and deliver training programmes for Integrated Healthcare Managers (IHMs) and cross-functional field teams
    • Build expertise in NHS structures, payer engagement, health economics, and value communication
    • Develop onboarding and continuous learning curricula tailored to market access excellence
    • Coach field teams through complex access scenarios and stakeholder challenges
  • Develop Tools, Materials & Resources
    • Lead the creation and maintenance of high-quality market access materials — including value dossiers, payer decks, objection handlers, and formulary submission templates
    • Develop and deploy practical tools such as budget impact models, pathway analyses, and stakeholder mapping frameworks
    • Ensure all materials are regionally relevant, compliant, and strategically aligned
  • Generate Data-Driven Insights
    • Produce actionable insights from regional and national data to inform strategy and execution
    • Track formulary status, access barriers, and regional variation in uptake
    • Deliver regular reporting and dashboards that support leadership decision-making
    • Turn insight into practical recommendations for IHMs and the wider team
  • Partner with Field Teams & Cross-Functional Stakeholders
    • Act as a strategic partner to IHMs, offering expert guidance on regional access challenges
    • Support the planning and execution of key regional initiatives and pilots
    • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, HEOR, Commercial, and Sales to deliver aligned field support
    • Facilitate sharing of best practices and success stories across regions
  • Uphold Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure all materials, training, and activities fully comply with the ABPI Code of Practice and internal policies
    • Maintain oversight of approval processes for market access materials
    • Embed compliance and ethical standards into every CoE output

What Success Looks Like
Capability & Training — Improved IHM capability scores; high training completion rates; increased field confidence in market access engagement
Tools & Resources — Strong adoption of materials; positive field feedback on quality and usability; faster time-to-deployment
Access Outcomes — Improved regional formulary access rates; reduced time-to-access post-launch; fewer identified access barriers
Insights — Timely, high-quality data reporting with demonstrable impact on strategy and field execution
Collaboration — Effective cross-functional partnerships; aligned materials and messaging across Medical, HEOR, and Commercial
Compliance — Full adherence to ABPI Code and internal governance; zero critical breaches

What You'll Bring

  • Education
    • Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Health Economics, or a related discipline
    • Substantial experience in UK health systems will also be considered in lieu of a formal qualification — including pharma market access, NHS commissioning, ICS medicines optimisation, HEOR consultancy, or NHS managerial roles with formulary and budget exposure
  • Experience
    • Significant experience in UK market access, spanning regional and/or national pharmaceutical industry roles
    • Strong understanding of NHS structures, including Integrated Care Systems, NICE, and regional decision-making processes
    • Demonstrated success in developing market access tools, materials, and training programmes
    • Experience working alongside or directly supporting field-based roles such as IHMs or Key Account Managers
    • A proven ability to translate strategy into executional excellence
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to operationalise complex concepts
    • Excellent communication and training delivery skills
    • Advanced analytical capability and confidence working with data and insights
    • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management in a matrix environment
    • High attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to quality and compliance

Why This Role?
This is more than a support function — it's a platform to shape how BMS builds market access capability across an entire organisation. You'll have the scope to design frameworks, develop talent, and drive the kind of consistent, insight-led execution that directly improves patient access to innovative medicines. If you're a market access professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy and delivery — and who wants to leave a lasting mark on how a leading pharmaceutical company operates — we'd like to hear from you.

Limited travel may be required to support field teams and attend key meetings. BMS is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
