At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, β€œWho are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it.

Have you ever wanted your work to truly matter? Not just ticking boxes. Not just running samples. But genuinely knowing that what you do every day is part of the chain that gets life-changing medicines to the patients who need them. That's exactly what this role is about.

So, who are we looking for? You're an experienced analytical scientist who's grown beyond the bench. You understand GMP stability operations inside and out - the scheduling, the sample management, the documentation - but more than that, you know how to lead. You bring calm to complexity, clarity to competing priorities, and confidence to the people around you. You've probably found yourself being the go-to person in your current team. The one colleagues turn to when something's tricky, when a timeline gets squeezed, or when an audit is on the horizon. You enjoy that. You're ready for a role that officially recognises it.

What you'll actually be doing (and why it matters):

  • Leading GMP Stability Operations: You'll take ownership of stability sample operations for medicines in development - from small molecule new chemical entities right through to clinical-stage investigational products. That means planning, executing and documenting activities to the highest cGMP standards, managing sample receipt, storage, labelling and shipment, and keeping everything inspection-ready at all times.
  • Driving Analytical Project Delivery: From clinical product release to method validation, you'll coordinate analytical activities across multiple deliverables simultaneously. You'll author and review validation protocols and reports, support technology transfers to both internal teams and external partners and act as the bridge between scientific staff, Quality Assurance and project stakeholders.
  • Coaching and Guiding Your Team: This isn't a lone-scientist role. You'll coach, guide and coordinate scientific staff, helping them build consistent ways of working and execute to a high standard. You'll be a visible, trusted leader - not just a senior pair of hands.
  • Owning Compliance and Audit Readiness: You'll apply sound risk management and pharmaceutical development principles to keep your area inspection-ready. When audits and regulatory inspections arrive - and they will - you'll be the person who made sure everything was in order.
  • Improving How Things Work: You'll have the platform to identify and implement genuine improvements - in stability operations, analytical delivery, compliance, productivity and efficiency. Your ideas won't just disappear into a suggestions box.

What you'll bring:

  • A degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry or a related field (BSc or higher)
  • Hands-on experience leading or coordinating GMP stability operations - ideally across API, drug product intermediates and/or oral solid dosage forms
  • A strong working knowledge of cGMP, data integrity and what inspection readiness actually looks like in practice
  • Experience with HPLC, KF, dissolution and analytical method validation
  • A track record of juggling multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders without dropping the ball
  • The confidence to operate with minimal supervision and the judgment to know when to escalate
  • A natural ability to bring people with you, whether through coaching, influencing or just being the kind of colleague people trust

Bristol Myers Squibb exists for one reason: to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. At the Moreton site, you'd be working at the heart of that mission - in a team where your expertise directly supports the development of the medicines of tomorrow. This is a site with genuine scientific ambition, a culture of collaboration, and a commitment to developing the people within it. You won't be a number here. You'll be noticed, challenged and invested in.

Ready to take the next step? If you're an analytical scientist ready to lead, to influence and to make a real difference - this is your opportunity.
