The Director of Statistical Methodology leads projects developing methodological solutions to statistical innovation problems identified by Data and Quantitative Science (DQS) and the broader Drug Development organization. The role focuses on engaging stakeholders, providing statistical consulting, overseeing tool and software development, and mentoring junior members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to design and develop innovative statistical methods and research.
  • Provide statistical consulting for specific projects across therapeutic areas.
  • Oversee the development of tools and software that implement methodological solutions.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, developing training curricula for the broader DQS organization.
  • Translate complex scientific questions into actionable statistical terms and communicate findings to non‑statistical audiences.
  • Act as statistical lead on topics influencing senior leadership and facilitate cross‑functional collaboration on long‑term statistical innovation objectives.
  • Continuously enhance technical knowledge of statistical methodology, drug development processes, regulatory and commercial requirements, and external scientific reputation via publications and presentations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science.
  • 9+ years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, academia, or government.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following: Bayesian Methods, Adaptive Design, Real‑World Evidence, Advanced Predictive Modelling, Machine Learning, or Decision Analysis.
  • Proven publication record and ability to summarize complex technical information for non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and set priorities.
