Meridian are working with a growing commercial fit‑out company who specialise in commercial refurbishments and shop‑fitting projects. Their projects are often 3‑month timeframes in major cities such as Sheffield, Liverpool, London, Nottingham etc. Due to growing demands of increasing work, they are looking to grow their onsite team with an additional Approved Electrician with experience in fit‑outs of hospitality, retail, or shop‑fitting venues.

Requirements for this role:

  • Gold JIB Installation or Approved Electrician Card
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in commercial electrical installation, with proven time spent in a senior role
  • Extensive experience on commercial fit‑outs (hospitality, retail, or commercial kitchens preferred)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (BS 7671)
  • Electrical Inspection and Testing qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395)
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot, read blueprints, and adapt layouts when required
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
  • Able to work away during the week across the UK
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Duties include:

  • Lead the installation of commercial electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and data containment on new sites and ensure existing sites are well maintained
  • Oversee, mentor, and coordinate the daily tasks of junior electricians, apprentices, or electrical subcontractors on site
  • Review, interpret, and accurately execute complex technical electrical drawings and schematic layouts
  • Manage 1st and 2nd fix installation workflows to meet strict project timelines
  • Take ownership of testing, inspecting, and official certification of installations to BS 7671 standards
  • Liaise closely with Site Managers and M&E Consultants to ensure seamless project integration
  • Proactively identify design clashes or routing issues and implement practical on‑site solutions
  • Work with onsite management to record and help to order materials
  • Enforce strict electrical quality control and HSE compliance across the electrical team
