Location: Irthlingborough

Salary: ÂŁ35,000 + bonus

Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–17:00, Friday 08:00–16:30

Join a leading UK supplier of confined space and site safety equipment as an experienced Gas Engineer specialising in Gas Detection and Location Systems to join their growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, service, repair, and calibrate gas detection and location systems.
  • Act as the technical lead for your product category, ensuring compliance with legislation and manufacturer requirements.
  • Review and approve calibration and service documentation.
  • Investigate equipment faults, failures, and customer issues.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and customers (phone, email, onsite).
  • Mentor engineers and trainees, supporting skills development.
  • Conduct quality checks and contribute to process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records in Syrinx and support hire/sales order processing.
  • Uphold workshop safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
  • Deputise for the Workshop Manager when required.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Strong diagnostic and problem‐solving skills.
  • Experience with gas detection equipment, calibration, or electronic diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Proven mentoring or coaching experience.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to compliance.
  • A proactive, customer‐focused approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast‐paced workshop environment and adapt to changing priorities.
