Are you a Chemist with a degree in chemistry or science and 3-5 years analytical inorganic chemistry experience? If so, we have a superb opportunity in Exeter for a Laboratory Chemist to analyse metals and ceramics within an expanding engineering business. Please note this is a 2 shift position, rotating weeks of 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm. The role does attract a 12.5% shift allowance (equating to c£4500 shift premium).

Role:

  • Calibrate and setup both new and existing instruments.
  • Maintain optimal performance of instrumentation.
  • Write, review and oversight of analytical methods.
  • Train lab technicians.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing facilities.
  • Participate in improvement projects.
  • Maintain lab systems to ISO17025 standards and be able to interpret and apply ISO guidelines to lab processes.

Preferred Skills:

  • BS degree in chemistry or science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong math and computer skills.
  • General understanding of XRF, Spark Emission and Mass Spectrometry analytical methods with background in analysis of metals (iron, nickel, and cobalt alloys) and ceramics is preferred.
  • Capable of lab team leadership.
  • Understanding of NADCAP and ISO17025 Quality Systems.
  • 3-5 years analytical inorganic chemistry experience.

Working Hours: 2-Shift (6am-2pm/2pm-10pm), 37.5 hours per week attracting a 12.5% shift premium.
