We are recruiting on behalf of a growing manufacturing business near Chester that is entering an exciting phase of expansion. This is a broad, influential Operations Manager role suited to someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and being right at the centre of change. As Operations Manager you will work closely with the Managing Director to support day‑to‑day operations while also driving improvement projects linked to growth. This includes reorganising working spaces, coordinating contractors, improving systems, and helping shape future capacity—whether within the existing site, a sister location, or a new facility. The role is intentionally broad and will evolve as the business grows, making it ideal for someone who enjoys making things better and seeing the impact of their work.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations relating to goods in / goods out, ensuring accurate identification, packing and shipping at all times.
- Support office staff with shipping processes and customs clearance.
- Monitor incoming shipments, lead times, arrivals and production constraints.
- Load and manage email orders on the production schedule, ensuring smooth flow and maximum capacity utilisation.
- Devise, track and report KPIs including lead times, shipping performance and capacity.
- Support production teams with procedures, instructions and documentation.
- Maintain accurate document control, training records and systems.
- Assist with computer system consolidation and improvements.
- Update and manage the H&S dashboard, supporting completion of consultant‑led action plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and safety.
- Work with senior leadership on capacity improvements and site layout changes.
- Lead and coordinate site improvement projects, overseeing contractors on site.
- Proven experience in an operations or management role, ideally within manufacturing, warehouse, distribution or industrial environments.
- Comfortable leading and working alongside a hands‑on, characterful production team.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH, health & safety and quality standards.
- Highly organised with strong attention to documentation and detail.
- Practical and physically capable, with good judgement around manual handling.
- A natural problem‑solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Confident communicator at all levels.
- Strong IT skills and comfortable working across multiple systems.
