SHIFT Bristol is looking for an organised, kind, steady, and capable Operations Lead to help hold the operational infrastructure of our educational programmes and wider organisation. SHIFT Bristol delivers practitioner-led education in sustainability, regenerative land use, permaculture, ecological design, community resilience, and practical land skills. Our work includes the year-long Practical Sustainability Course and shorter Permaculture Design Certificate courses.

We are looking for someone who can support the systems that allow this work to happen well. The Operations Lead will hold key responsibilities across operations, finance administration, safeguarding systems, HR and tutor coordination, course administration, governance support, and organisational continuity. This is a connective role. You will work alongside classroom facilitators, lead tutors, pastoral support, safeguarding roles, recruitment roles, directors, and external partners.

You will help make sure information flows, systems work, responsibilities are visible, records are maintained, and the organisation is able to function with more clarity and less reactivity. This role does not primarily involve teaching, facilitation, or direct pastoral support. Instead, it holds the operational framework that allows those roles to function coherently and sustainably.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in operations, administration, finance, HR, safeguarding systems, or organisational coordination. Experience in community education, CICs, charities, collaborative governance, or regenerative organisations would be valuable. You will need to be relationally skilled, and able to work with complexity. You will also need to be comfortable working in a small values-led organisation that is developing shared governance and working collaboratively.
