The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Full Time, Fixed Term until 31 March 2028. The Substance Use Support Team (SUST) is in its sixth year working with individuals experiencing multiple disadvantages, supporting their engagement with drug and alcohol services and helping them maintain their accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with people experiencing complex challenges, including a history of rough sleeping and homelessness, across a range of accommodation types.
  • Manage challenges, adapt approaches to engagement, communicate clearly, and support positive change.
  • Collaborate closely with Horizons Bristol (Drug and Alcohol Services), housing providers, Adult Social Care, health care and allied services to ensure holistic support and treatment is wrapped around each client.
  • Prepare and coordinate admission to detox and residential rehabilitation placements.
  • Work independently across the city, applying a proactive, holistic approach to support clients through diverse challenges.
  • Support clients in accessing appropriate move-on housing and homelessness services.
  • Present ideas and feedback from the frontline to contribute to project development and to a team environment that encourages growth and best practice.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant experience working with this client group and a good understanding of drug and alcohol interventions.
  • Familiarity with harm reduction approaches and ability to support people through change.
  • Ability to work independently across the city while collaborating effectively with housing and homelessness services.
  • Clear communication skills, adaptability in engagement strategies, and capability to manage complex challenges.
  • Contribution to a supportive team environment that encourages mutual support and best practice.
