We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Planned Maintenance team. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of various installation & maintenance contracts, including Fire Alarm and Sprinkler installations.

You will work closely with a skilled team within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Heating Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Line manage a team of surveyors and a Customer Liaison Officer, overseeing multiple capital and revenue projects for Bristol City Council.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, with a particular emphasis on Electrical Safety.
  • Project Delivery: Drive the successful delivery of programmes to meet high standards, prioritising health and safety and achieving optimal outcomes for residents.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build effective working relationships with Bristol City Council’s contractors, ensuring high standards and value for money.
  • Team Support: Deputise for other Supervisors within the team as required.

What will I be doing

  • Supervision and Contract Management: Oversee installation and maintenance, especially in social housing, working with contractors to manage daily activities
  • Project and Contract Documentation: Write specifications, contract documents, and necessary reports to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Team Coordination: Support other Supervisors in bringing together internal teams to execute Bristol City Council’s compliance programmes.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Oversee multiple projects, ensuring that all relevant Health and Safety and CDM regulations are strictly followed by both in-house and external contractors.
  • Adaptability: Stay updated on industry changes, particularly in plumbing, electrical, and refurbishment projects.

What do I need to have

We need someone who holds a relevant recognised Construction and/or Electrical engineering qualification equivalent to Degree or HNC or NVQ Level 3 standard and extensive practical relevant experience.

You should have the drive to take the initiative to introduce innovations to keep continually improving the service we offer to our residents and have a keen interest in helping BCC achieve its carbon neutral target.

This role is ideal for someone with strong line management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and safety.

You will need to hold a full driving license for use in the UK.

Please note that this role is subject to a Basic DBS Check.
