Nature Together Co-ordinator

Overview

Full Time, Fixed Term from 1st January 2026 until 31st December 2027. We are recruiting for an experienced and skilled project co-ordinator with a passion for nature to deliver the 2 year \’Nature Together’ project. We are excited to have been successful in securing funding from the National Heritage Lottery’s ‘Nature Towns and Cities’ Grant Programme for our ‘Nature Together’ project, which is funding this new role. This Project is about building greater capacity in communities to take action for nature in the City of Bristol. Evidence shows access to nature and green spaces makes us healthier, happier, more connected and more resilient.

Nature Together Project Will The Following

• Reviewing policies, systems and practices at Bristol City Council to find better ways to work collaboratively with communities that want to improve nature.
• Co-developing a ‘one front door’ approach and ‘Green Permit Scheme’ that makes it easier for communities and partners to access council services.
• Working collaboratively with communities, project partners and our own colleagues to find greater opportunities to develop nature plans, support volunteering and community-led action, develop skills such as conservation, conduct quality and nature audits, build a project pipeline for action and seek new ways of funding.

Role and Partners

You will work closely with the Nature Together Project Manager and Bristol City Council colleagues. It is vital that you have the confidence and experience to build successful working relationships both with our project partners: Avon Wildlife Trust, Your Park, Bristol and Bath, the Bristol Climate and Nature Partnership and the Natural History Consortium and importantly the 3 community groups that have applied to be part of the project. Our partners will be recruiting three complimentary posts: a Nature Together Community Co-ordinator hosted by the Bristol Climate and Nature Partnership, a Community Ecologist hosted by Avon Wildlife Trust and a Community Park Lead hosted by Your Park, Bristol and Bath.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment. For employees currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to. If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
