We are pleased to announce a fixed term position has arisen in our team to cover a career break for 14 months in Bristol City Council’s City Events team as an Events Officer. The city events team supports the development and delivery of city-wide cultural outdoor events and festivals ranging from promotional activities, food, comedy and live music events.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, driven, and a confident communicator with previous experience of working on large outdoor events or festivals. You will join a small team of dedicated and enthusiastic officers who have a wide range of experience working across festivals and events.

You will be expected to work in a fast-paced multi-agency environment alongside parks, highways, harbours, film and Highstreet colleagues as well as attending Bristol’s Safety Advisory Group. You will build relationships with event organisers and support the city events team to elevate, support and facilitate the city’s internationally renowned events and festivals programming.

This role involves administering finance and business processes as well as consulting on event applications, event management plans, and site visits. You will be required to ensure events are delivered safely and successfully and in accordance with Bristol City Council’s sustainable goals and initiatives. You will need to advise events on their plans to generate income and work with stakeholders to minimise disruption to residents and businesses.

This role will suit someone who is passionate about events and festivals and who can demonstrate a good understanding of best practice in areas such as waste, power, accessibility, meanwhile use, funding, grants, sustainability, etc. Please note that this role is subject to a Basic DBS Check.
