We are looking for a dynamic, technically competent, experienced technician for this role within the Strategic Highways Maintenance Team. You would project manage the planning and delivery of planned highway maintenance work across the city with the support of colleagues. As a team, we are responsible for the delivery of planned maintenance work across Bristol, including road resurfacing, patching work, road markings, highway drainage, winter maintenance, and preventative maintenance including surface dressing, micro asphalt, and footway slurry seal.
You should have appropriate qualifications and/or relevant technical experience of project managing highway maintenance activities. You should have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety and other associated legislation. Good communication skills are essential. You should have the confidence to work on your own, while having the ability to work as part of a team, supervise contractors and deal with issues and enquiries which relate to the work.
The post would suit a dynamic, enthusiastic person who has previous project management experience, and an ability to find solutions for problems which they encounter. We offer training and mentoring, so it is as much about your attitude, curiosity, and desire to succeed, as previous experience and qualifications.
The role involves site work and you may be required to sometimes work out of normal working hours to aid with the supervision of work, for which enhancements are payable. You will need a full valid driving licence for use in the UK and, as BCC operate a grey fleet, be required to use your own vehicle for which mileage is paid and parking provided.
