Bristol City Council are looking for Senior Drivers to join their Home to School Travel team. The role will be based at our Depot in Sandy Park, Brislington.

Responsibilities:

  • Availability for site office cover for driver dispatch (06:00) and vehicle return (up to 17:30) on a rota basis.
  • Responsibility for the operation of vehicles, escort duties, and/or ancillary duties in relation to delivery of Home to School Travel service.
  • Support the senior quality assurance officer in conducting site visits to schools and monitoring the compliance of external contracted drivers/vehicles.
  • Assist with stock maintenance, communications to providers, DBS checks and other digital training record maintenance, as instructed.
  • Drive vehicles safely, adhering to appropriate codes of practice and ensuring comfort of children and young people, following prescribed routes as required by the Fleet Supervisor/Quality Assurance Officer.

Requirements:

  • EITHER Driving License CAT B, a CAT D (101), a full PSV license (qualified to drive up to 16 seat minibus) OR a pre‑1997 driving licence.
  • Good vehicle maintenance knowledge and ability to carry out daily checks and any required cleaning.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
