We are seeking to appoint an experienced Manager to play a leadership role within the Housing Repairs Service at Sandy Park, Bristol City Council. This is a critical position with a strong focus on driving service improvement, strengthening governance, and delivering an excellent customer experience across a diverse housing portfolio of approximately 27,500 homes.
This is a pivotal time to join the service as we respond to sector‑wide challenges and raise standards in line with the Regulator of Social Housing’s expectations, particularly in relation to building safety, damp and mould, and the reduction of outstanding repairs.
A key priority will be strengthening organisational compliance with Awaab’s Law, embedding robust, resident‑focused processes and ensuring consistent delivery against statutory requirements across the service.
This role provides strategic and operational leadership to a team of Technical Officers and Response Surveyors, with primary accountability for leading and overseeing the Damp and Mould function. It is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Awaab’s Law and associated regulatory requirements, including establishing robust governance frameworks, driving performance against statutory timescales, effectively managing risk, and ensuring all cases are progressed with urgency, transparency, and a clear audit trail.
- Drive service improvement, strengthen governance, and deliver excellent customer experience across a diverse housing portfolio.

- Manage contractor relationships, ensuring contractual, regulatory and quality standards, and delivering value for money.
- Monitor performance, challenge and escalating where necessary to maintain high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
- Identify technical expertise, lead multidisciplinary teams, embed clear processes, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Significant technical expertise in building pathology, damp and mould, and building safety.
- Demonstrable experience of leading and performance‑managing multidisciplinary teams in a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of compliance, risk management and governance, with ability to embed clear processes.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to customer care.
