This job is a Full Time, Fixed Term position for up to 18 months. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Development Manager to join the team on a fixed-term basis of up to 18 months, to work on a national government-led programme to accelerate housing delivery. You will be working on the Small Sites Aggregator, a programme that aims to build homes for social rent on local authority-owned land using innovative construction techniques and SME developers.

This role expands a traditional Housing Development role into working to support a national development programme, with enabling and partnership working at its core. You will lead on the housing delivery aspects of the programme for Bristol. This will involve directly working to identify and de-risk sites and supporting the planning applications, detailed design, procurement, legals, and construction stages of the programme. You will work closely with national government, the West of England Combined Authority, and other partners, helping to ensure the programme is a success.

You will be responsible for leading on site specific communications including in-person stakeholder collaboration and engagement, funding and project reporting to senior leadership, funders, and political leads.

What do I need to have?

Ideally, you will have a relevant professional qualification along with demonstrable housing development, construction, acquisition and project management experience required to successfully enable a multi-million-pound Housing Delivery programme. You will be experienced in commissioning and managing consultancy services around development; preparing and maintaining project documentation such as business cases, development appraisals, cost benefit plans, risk logs and monitoring reports; and effectively managing capital budgets, to support the successful delivery of the Small Sites Aggregator programme. You will also have experience of managing a small team of technical and non-technical officers and working with external development specialists.

If you have a passion for housing development and construction, experience of working in a project delivery environment and leading a development team, we would welcome an application from you.
