Overview
In this Fire Safety Advisor role, you will help raise fire safety standards across Bristol City Council’s diverse estate. You’ll provide specialist guidance to managers, professionals and contractors, and lead audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance. You’ll support training, policy development and safety governance to embed a strong safety culture. This is a chance to influence public safety across a large property portfolio in a high-profile council. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to protect people and services while driving continual improvements.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist fire safety guidance to managers, responsible persons, property professionals and contractors
- Conduct fire safety audits, inspections and technical risk assessments
- Monitor compliance with fire safety legislation and review performance
- Support continual improvement of fire safety arrangements across the estate
- Contribute to training, policy development and safety governance
- Help embed a positive fire safety culture across the organisation
Key requirements
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, compliance requirements and industry best practice
- Experience of undertaking fire safety audits, inspections, risk assessments and compliance reviews
- Ability to interpret and apply technical fire safety information in practical environments
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills managing a large and varied property portfolio
- Membership of IFSM or IFE with relevant post-qualification experience
