The Executive Office are looking to recruit x2 Executive Support Assistants to join our experienced team supporting senior leaders at Bristol City Council. This is a fast‑paced and varied role in which you will provide high‑quality administrative and business support to enable Senior Leaders and Executive Assistants to operate effectively.

You will take ownership of a defined area of executive administration, coordinating end‑to‑end processes such as meetings, events and business support activity, ensuring work is delivered accurately and to a high standard.

In this role you will:

  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support, including organising meetings, events and visits for senior leaders.
  • Coordinate logistics such as agendas, papers, room bookings and follow‑up actions.
  • Work with colleagues and external stakeholders, responding to enquiries and building effective working relationships.
  • Support operational delivery by resolving routine issues and managing competing priorities.
  • Provide ad‑hoc cover and support where needed to ensure continuity of service.
  • Work collaboratively across the council in a professional, responsive and confidential environment, contributing to the delivery of a consistent, high‑quality service.

  • You can organise and prioritise a varied workload, managing competing demands effectively.
  • You have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, high‑quality work.
  • You have good written communication skills and can draft clear, professional documents.
  • You are adaptable and able to use your judgement to resolve routine issues appropriately.
  • You are confident using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel, and are willing to learn new systems.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment. For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to. If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
