We are searching for an energetic, forward‑thinking planning enforcement leader to provide clear direction to our Enforcement function. You will report directly to the Chief Planner and lead a senior planning team to strengthen and develop the enforcement service, ensuring planning breaches are swiftly resolved in line with our Local Enforcement Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage resources to optimally use limited capacity and control budgets to achieve outcomes and meet performance targets.
  • Champion customer service delivery, continuous improvement and innovation to ensure effective and efficient ways of working.
  • Guide and manage senior enforcement officers, nurture inclusion and diversity, and support the professional development of all team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to members, stakeholders, the public and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with peers within the wider planning service and across the organisation to ensure seamless service provision.
  • Lead the timely production of relevant monitoring information and improve planning data systems.

About You

  • Proven experience in a planning department with a track record of enforcement delivery.
  • Strong understanding of planning enforcement and related legislation, enthusiasm to adopt the local enforcement plan and a proactive enforcement approach.
  • Commitment to creating a positive team environment and supporting team members.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation and continuous service improvement.
  • Skilled communicator, with extensive advocacy and negotiation experience to achieve successful outcomes on complex projects.
