Part Time, Permanent Role Overview

With a strong commitment to improving outcomes for all young children in Bristol, you will join the Childminding Support Team, working alongside three Childminding Support Workers and the Childminding Lead. The team plays a vital role in recruiting, supporting and developing childminders across the city, offering information, advice and professional development opportunities to promote a high‑quality, inclusive and diverse childcare workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, support and develop childminders across the city, providing information, advice and professional development to promote a high‑quality, inclusive and diverse childcare workforce.
  • Offer both support and constructive challenge to early years practice within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage, guiding childminders on high‑quality childcare, early education and business and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, verbally, in writing and through presentations, adapting your approach to varied audiences.
  • Support the use of the Bristol Standard and facilitate and lead childminding groups across the city in partnership with the Early Years Improvement team.
  • Work professionally and collaboratively with childminders, as part of a small supportive team, and in close partnership with colleagues across the wider early years sector.
  • Support the delivery of training, including working some evenings and occasional Saturdays, and travel across the city to visit childminders.
  • Work in a hybrid model, combining home working with office‑based work at Southmead Children’s Centre.

Qualifications

  • Graduate‑level qualification relevant to early years.
  • Experience of working within a childminding setting.
  • Direct experience working with children and parents.
  • Ability to provide informed guidance on high‑quality childcare, early education, effective partnerships with parents, and business and regulatory requirements.
  • Enhanced DBS Check.
