About the placements

We have two paid placement positions available to help us work on the archaeology collections. During the placement, you will be working on the archaeological material from over 3500 archaeological sites. Most of this material was collected before modern archaeological techniques or standards and your role will be to help catalogue and re-package it. You will work at museum sites or stores alongside the curatorial team.

About you

Placements are designed to suit anyone looking to enter a career in archaeology or the museum sector. Ideally, you will be able to work independently and as part of a team, have good communication skills, and take an interest in archaeology, culture, arts or museums. You don’t need any formal qualifications or experience to apply as this is a trainee position and full training will be provided. Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates from groups that are underrepresented in the museum and archaeology sector. These are identified as those with disabilities, from low-income families, and from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
