Bristol is an exciting and diverse city to live and work in. Bristol City Council reflects this, working to improve its citizens’ lives and the city in which they live. The Council’s Property Investment Team is part of the overall Corporate Landlord function within the Council. We are currently looking for an experienced asset management surveyor to help manage a large portfolio of properties within the City boundary and across all asset classes.
The portfolio offers an interesting mix of standing investments and long leases and is an important and growing source of revenue income for the City. Assets range from city centre retail, office and leisure uses, a wide range of industrial units through to City Docks properties. We are looking for a commercially experienced chartered surveyor who is keen to help us grow and improve the portfolio in the coming years.
You are looking for a varied and interesting workload and to develop your own expertise. As a member of a small team, you will be involved in all aspects of portfolio management including asset management initiatives to re-shape the portfolio and improve returns. You will work with the Council’s Property team and a wide range of Council colleagues, as well as managing a range of external consultants who help support the delivery of transactions and projects.
You’ll need to demonstrate that you are commercially minded, a good team player, with the ability and confidence to think laterally and deal with a wide variety of property interests and stakeholders. You will also be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, as from time-to-time you may be asked to support large-scale projects across the Council - separate from your day-to-day portfolio management work - where significant property advice is required.
At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice – mixing both home and office working.
Join us and you’ll receive an excellent rewards package including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
We’re a Disability Confident employer. We value recruiting and retaining disabled people. Any job applicants who consider themselves to be disabled and meet the essential criteria in the Person Specification are guaranteed an interview. We’ll make reasonable adjustments throughout the interview process and provide continued workplace support throughout your career.
For further information, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification or alternatively, please contact Ian Smith – ian.smith@bristol.gov.uk.
